6 FOODS THAT CAN HELP YOU ALLEVIATE YOUR STRESS LEVELS

Many people have been physically and emotionally struggling to maintain a healthy balance of food during the dark days of the COVID-19 epidemic. With the huge rise of deaths, fractured economy and job losses our minds and bodies are more fragile than ever. Living in isolation and uncertainty has caused a mental health concern for our population which can lead to high blood pressure, increased stress levels and depression. Many handle stress in different ways and it often reflects in our food choices but don’t worry here are 6 foods that can help you alleviate your stress levels:

1- SALMON. Salmon is a fish that you should be enjoying up to three times a week. It’s full of Omega 3 essential fatty acids, which help to boost serotonin production and can reduce inflammation and promote healthy flow of blood in your body. Salmon also have a healthy dose of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) that helps to nourish the brain while mitigating stress hormones. Having this with your sushi,salad or grilled will help you battle stress in your day to life.

2- OATMEAL. If you grew up in the colder climates of the world Oatmeal has always been the quick and hearty fix of vitamins to get you started. Oatmeal contains magnesium, potassium and complex carbohydrates. These vitamins aid your body in boosting serotonin production and lowering blood pressure. Having a hearty bowl for breakfast will stabilize your blood sugar which will help you to have a more relaxed day. 6- CITRUS FRUITS. Citrus fruits are a great way to get your vitamin C, which many studies show reduces stress levels and are natural antioxidants that boost your immune system.
