The Food and Drug Administration (FDA, Agency, or we) is announcing the availability of a final guidance for industry (GFI) #260 entitled “Type VII Veterinary Master File for Research and Development and Risk Reviews.” This guidance describes FDA’s current thinking regarding the use of Type VII Veterinary Master Files (Type VII VMFs). Type VII VMFs are appropriate for research and development of animal cells, tissues, and cell- and tissue-based products (ACTPs), gene therapies, and heritable intentional genomic alterations (IGAs) in animals.

This document announces the Agency’s receipt of and solicits public comment on initial filings of pesticide petitions requesting the establishment or modification of regulations for residues of pesticide chemicals in or on various commodities. The Agency is providing this notice in accordance with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA). This regulation establishes an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of calcium carbonate (CAS # 471-34-1), in or on all food commodities when used in accordance with label directions and good agricultural practices. Columbia River Carbonates, submitted a petition to EPA under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), requesting an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance. This regulation eliminates the need to establish a maximum permissible level for residues of calcium carbonate in or on all food commodities, in accordance with the terms of the exemption.
